Idina Menzel Brings Her Iconic Voice to Sarasota’s Van Wezel
Tony Winning Star of Wicked and Frozen takes the Stage for Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation Gala
Sarasota, FL (September 29, 2025) – The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation are thrilled to welcome Idina Menzel to Sarasota on Friday, March 6 at 8:30 p.m. Menzel is a Tony Award-winning, powerhouse multi-hyphenate: a singer, an actress in film and TV, a songwriter, a Broadway star, and a philanthropist. She will bring her talents to the Van Wezel stage as part of the Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation Gala. Beginning Friday, October 3 at 10 a.m., tickets will be available through the Hall box office for the performance only. Gala tickets, which include both the performance and gala festivities, are available exclusively through the Foundation.
Menzel rose to prominence as ‘Maureen’ in Rent and became a household name with her Tony-winning performance as ‘Elphaba’ in Wicked. Her iconic voice as ‘Elsa’ in Disney’s Frozen and Frozen 2 helped propel both films to record-breaking success, with “Let It Go” becoming a global anthem and earning an Oscar® and Grammy®.
On screen, Menzel has starred in Enchanted and its sequel Disenchanted, Netflix’s You’re So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, Amazon’s Cinderella, and the critically acclaimed Uncut Gems. Her television credits include Glee and Lifetime’s Beaches.
In 2025, she returned to Broadway in Redwood, which she co-conceived with Tina Landau, earning a Distinguished Performance Award from the Drama League and recognition from New Dramatists for her contributions to theatre.
The Foundation’s Gala will showcase Menzel’s extraordinary talent while raising funds to sustain local arts education and wellness programs.
“When we gather for evenings like this, we’re not just enjoying a performance -- we’re investing in Sarasota’s cultural legacy,” said Tania Castroverde Moskalenko, CEO of the Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation. “Our partnership with the Van Wezel to welcome Idina Menzel is both a celebration of today’s artistry and a promise to ensure the arts continue to flourish for generations to come.”
