“Omar’s background in finance, along with his commitment to philanthropy, will bring a valuable perspective to our board,” said Tania Castroverde Moskalenko, CEO of the Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation. “We are fortunate to have leaders with diverse areas of expertise around the table as we work to create a new performing arts center and expand opportunities for arts education and engagement throughout our community.”

Butt has been with J.P. Morgan since 2018, including five years in the firm’s London office. His career also includes experience in mergers and acquisitions with PwC’s Family Office & Private Capital Group in London. He formerly served as a board member of The Butt Family Foundation, which supports educational opportunities and programs benefiting disadvantaged children across the Gulf Coast. In London he Vice chaired the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Young Patrons Circle from 2017-2020.

“I am honored to join the Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation’s board and contribute to an organization that is helping shape the cultural future of this community,” said Butt. “Sarasota’s long and storied history with the performing arts goes back to Ringling and intersperses with the gracing of Sarasota stages by Will Rogers, Elvis Presley and The Smokey Mountain Boys. Verman Kimbrough and his operatic troupe developed here. That’s without even mentioning the visual arts. It’s been an integral part of this unique city for a century and the next generation of Sarasotans deserve to retain, know and be inspired by it. ”

Butt holds a Master of Science in Global Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from the University of London.
